The death of Steve Jobs, hook for the cyberdelinquents in Facebook





Through social networking and using the death of Steve Jobs, cyber criminals are spreading a malicious website. For attractiveness deception, claimed that Apple would give cybercriminals free iPads those who access the page.



As you all probably know, Steve Jobs passed away yesterday. These are sad news, and everyone is talking about him and his life as he has achieved so many fantastic things. Social Networks are flooded with quotes from Steve, and all of us have only good words to talk about him.




But as you can imagine, there are always people trying to take advantage of these situations. Some cybercriminals created a Facebook page called “R.I.P. Steve Jobs”, and innocent people have been joining by the thousands. In just a few hours it had more than 90,000 fans. Criminals published a link using the popular shortener service bit.ly, where they said that Apple will be giving away 50 iPads.




The malicious URL forwards a typical scam, that is to say, web sites in which he makes the user believe that he has turned out to be a winner of some gadget (they are usually iPads, TV sets, iPhones …) and to obtain the award, must subscribe to a service of SMS in his mobile phone, with an expense for 1,42 euros for message. Obviously, the user defrauded will never receive the chosen gift and, on the other hand, it will receive a good number of SMS spam who will suppose an economic expense. Also, to favor the trick, the malicious web site counts with geolocalización, from what it will show to the user different messages in his language depending wherefrom it is located.
