Many believe that the Act of direction is independent of the person who directs. They think that the process of leadership should be similar to the creation of a product or corporate brand.

Misconceptions of the function of a leader

Knowledge evolves over time. What is believed as fact for a century can not be done any longer. The ideas of leadership of the 20th century may not work in the 21st century. Several factors such as cultural beliefs, social conditions, political situations, the level of understanding of people, technological advances and the collective consciousness affect knowledge of a particular subject. Knowledge related to any topic, including the leadership, it must be updated, and the same goes for the list of the of the misconceptions about the topic where the following are.

Anyone can become leader.
False. Many company executives They have no self-knowledge or authenticity, qualities that are required to exercise effective leadership. Others that may have the potential, have no desire to; they prefer to devote the scarce free time remaining to other activities of his private life.

Leaders always generate good results: not always. If the leadership could be measured by results, it would be easy to identify the good leaders. They do not always coincide. There is a quasi monopolistic business who do best with competent managers than with good leaders and well led companies that go them wrong in the short term.

Leadership starts from the outside inward.
Many believe that the Act of the address is independent of the person who directs. They think that the process of leadership should be similar to the creation of a product or corporate brand. This way of seeing leadership called the leadership from the outside, where the focus is more on the external elements of the address rather than the leader. This is a myth.

 myths about leadership
The truth is that leadership starts from the inside. In his book leadership from the inside out, Kevin Cashman said: "leadership comes from a deeper reality within us, it is our values, principles, life experiences, and the essence of leadership is a process, an intimate expression of what we are..." is our person in the action ".

While we don't know who we are, what are our core values are, and how we can serve through leadership, cannot influence in the outside world or direct effectively.

Leadership and position another misconception is that whoever is in front of the crowd is a leader. But being the first does not always is the same as being the leader. To be a leader, a person must not only go to the front, but they must also have people who intentionally comes behind her, follows your direction, and acts on the basis of their vision.

"Wallace had a vision, he asked them directly:" what would you do without freedom?, they can kill us, but they can never take away our freedom. The identified with what they were, he spoke to them in their language, he planted a dream in your head, so that when they spend many years and died in their beds do not repent from what was going to happen there. And they followed him intentionally, were behind his vision.

Management and leadership often is assumed that management and leadership is the same. The main difference between both is that the leader influences people to keep it so, while the Manager focuses on systems and maintenance processes. The best way to test whether a person is a leader instead of a Manager, is to ask you to make some positive changes. Managers can stay the course, but cannot change it. For turn the tide of people, you need to influence them. This was the fault of the nobles in the history, they had no influence over the people.

All leaders have a charismatic personality.
Normally believe, that all leaders are charismatic and makes that people can not avoid to follow them, a kind of magnetic power, that appeals to the masses. It is clear that there are charismatic leaders and is great to have them and we also enjoy following them, however the charisma is not the most important, this by itself only not makes you a leader. There are people who have great charisma but they aren't leaders and instead there are people who lack charisma and excellent leaders. We think that the charisma is a personality, but charisma is really a State of mind. The main difference is, that people who are charismatic thinks different, when they deal with a person, focus on it and not in itself. They address issues that matter to the other person and not on the contrary, however a person who is not charismatic, only focuses on whether same.  Charisma will enable us to have a first positive impression, pass the gate, the cover letter, people will want to be close, but the character will not remain. However the charism is not everything, it is only an aid, what really matters, it is the character and credibility, they are much more important for a leader.

The order right to develop would be: 1. 2 character and credibility (essential).  Charisma (added value, not necessary)
